About us

The Smart art gallery features some of England's least known but most talented artists specialising in Classic contemporary art for the home or office.

We are currently featuring the work of Martyn Pate. All the work in the smart art gallery are originals, hand painted in either oil or acrylic on natural canvas stretched over wooden frames.

Martyn, from an early age has been interested in Wildlife and Art. A combination that over the years, along with an increasing interest in the female form has developed into his passion for producing dramatic and eye catching works of art.

Mainly working in oils on canvas, he has taken inspiration from a wide mix of artists, past & present, ...the use of strokes by Van Gogh, colours of Turner and the content and execution & impact of David Shepherd.

Martyn's application of paint produces vivid and dramatic works, the techniques used give life and uniqueness to his pictures, especially the use of metallic oils with other colours -
